29 year old with societal withdrawal and severe depression since childhood.

She still lives in an upstairs apartment with her professional working parents.  Beginning in the spring of 2001, a computerized cognitive therapy program was started, at first in an office setting and later moved to her home.

Subject was very reclusive, wouldn’t answer the telephone, frequently exploded with emotion whenever questioned, refused to do any household chores, would “hole-up” in her room day and weeks without communicating with anyone, including her parents, talking in a high pitched squeaky voice.

Today after 8 months subject is:

· Attending a voc rehab program at a Tech Center, preparing to be an administrative assistant,

                     · Making A’s and B’s in all her subject areas,

                     · Attending class 5 days a week for 6 hours a day,

· Regularly communicates with her parents and others, often initiating the conversation and making      telephones calls

                     · Appears cheerful, handling stress without apparent difficulty,

· Now achieving high executive level decision-making and problem-solving skills,

                     · Eating out with the family and enjoying it,

                     · Establishing a social life outside the family setting.

She is continuing her cognitive therapy at the higher levels of executive skills of problem solving and decision-making.
