serious
T.B.I.
with
loss of
arm due
to train
accident. |
As a senior in high
school, subject was
struck by a train
while walking the
railroad tracks,
causing very severe
brain damage and
loss of his left
arm, leaving only a
4” stub. After 3
years of therapy,
subject was unsteady
on his feet, right
hand toned in, right
field neglect in his
field of vision,
unable to manipulate
his fingers with any
dexterity.
Within the 1st
month, he
demonstrated the
ability to
manipulate a marble
mouse, rejecting a
foot-controlled
mouse. He has
demonstrated the
following
improvements:
· Toned in hand
began opening with
thumb and forefinger
able to pick up
items that had
dropped.
· Used his stub
(left side) to
manipulate the
marble mouse and to
enter the click as
well as his right
hand.
· Circulation in
right hand increased
whereas before the
hand was always
cold.
· Speech pattern
changed from a
mumble to soft
spoken but clearly
distinguishable
sounds even over the
telephone.
· Subject stated he
awoke at 3:00 a.m.
and worked on the
assigned cognitive
exercise.
· Climbs the stairs
to his bedroom
without difficulty.
