62-year-old businessman who underwent surgery for removal of brain tumor and subsequent stroke 2 weeks later in November 1999

 

 

Jim Thorpe Rehab recommended that patient start therapy with the Cognitive Systems System in July 2000 at his place of business allowing the patient to practice on a continuous time frame at work.

  • July 5, 2000, the System was installed in patient’s place of business with Jim Thorpe Rehab Therapist (Speech Language Pathologist) assigned to the patient.
     

  • Patient has recovered much of his short-term memory and has advanced to intermediate to high levels of the cognitive exercises, including Visual-Spatial II, Memory II and Problem Solving I. 
     

  • As of October 17, patient was continuing to practice his cognitive thinking skills along with managing his computer-based business.
     

  • December 2000 discontinued Cognitive Systems System due to patient receiving chemotherapy and sustaining another stroke in mid November 2000.
     

  • Patient continuing to work with special activities that help the patient keep mentally alert.
